Here at Shoreline, we believe that each child is “Wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). Understanding that each child is unique and the importance of balanced growth, we provide opportunities for physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social development. The Bible tells us that “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men” (Luke 2:52). Each child is developing in the same ways Jesus grew: mentally (in wisdom), physically (in stature), spiritually (in favor with God), and socially (in favor with the people around them).
A child’s physical development can be the key to all other areas of development. As children develop physically, they gain fine motor, gross motor, sensory, cognitive, and social skills that will assist them later in life.

INFANT/TODDLER
The first three years are a crucial time of life. One of the most important ways we at Shoreline can support our families of infants and toddlers is by providing a high-quality program that fosters their development and supports each baby through their many milestones. We strive to provide the experiences infants and toddlers need to prosper.
Shoreline Preschool nurtures your child’s development to help them reach their full potential. With the assistance of our friendly, patient, and experienced teachers, we provide your toddler with undivided care and support. Some of the focus areas for children in these classes are:
• Learning about their feelings and feeling valued and secure in their relationships
• Listening in a group setting
• Fostering self-expression through arts and crafts, music and dramatic play
• Expressing needs and wants by communicating their emotions, gestures, sounds and eventually words
• Using simple baby sign language to foster communication skills
• Picking up small objects, throwing a ball, stacking blocks, walking and running
• Learning simple problem solving through exploration
• Feeling competent and proud about what they can do
• Encouraging children to speak in phrases or 3-word sentences

PRESCHOOL (2-3 YEARS)
Enrollment is open to all preschool-age children in the community. Children must be 2 years old by the day of entry.
The only option is 5 full days, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Currently, Shoreline has two 2-year-old classrooms. We provide for your younger two-year-olds who just transitioned into our Preschool Program and for the older 2-year-old who is ready to negotiate the world around them. We have established a balanced program that promotes academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development for each child. Our Shoreline 2-year-old program equips your child with skills such as language/literacy development, creative expression, and self-help. Some of the class focus areas are:
• Encouraging children to speak in phrases or 3-word sentences
• Listening in a group setting
• Following 1 to 3 step directions
• Fostering self-expression through arts and crafts, music and dramatic play
• Mastering self-help skills such as hand washing, simple dressing, using utensils competently, cleaning their own space, and self-serving
• Encouraging social relationships and learning that God loves them
• Focusing on toileting skills

• Playing in a group setting; sharing, taking turns, using words to express feelings
• Physical development through playground games, movement exploration, as well as arts/crafts, puzzles, blocks
• Cognitive skills development. Listening in a group setting, making choices, concentrating on a task; asking how, what, when and why questions
• Language and Literacy development. Letter and number recognition, singing songs and dancing
• Learning about God and the world around them
Self-help skills. Dressing by him/herself, self-serving, responsible for personal items
• Creative expression through art and use a variety of art media
• Playing in a group setting; sharing, taking turns, using words to express feelings

• Social skills development. Fostering friendships, sharing, taking turns. Being kind to others, using manners, seeking approval of friends
• Learning that God loves them and Jesus wants to be their friend forever
